Day 1: Sunday, June 1st - Departure from the USA 

Direct overnight flight from New York to Catania, Sicily

Day 2: Monday, June 2nd - Arrival in Sicily

Arrive in Catania in the morning and begin the drive to Marina di Ragusa, a lovely seaside town located in the southeastern part of Sicily.  This will be be your home base for 4 nights, staying at the beautiful Acacia Palace Hotel.  This popular beach town has a vibrant nightlife, and serves as a perfect base to explore the region and its amazing baroque towns.

En route to Marina di Ragusa, you will stop for lunch at a local country restaurant set in the heart of the region and enjoy local dishes.  After time to relax at the hotel or explore a bit of the town’s scenic promenade and oceanfront, you will gather for a welcome dinner and music at the hotel.

Day 3: Tuesday, June 3rd - Visit Ragusa

Start the day with a delightful breakfast at the Hotel, then relax and enjoy Marina di Ragusa with a walking tour or simply spend time on the promenade, pool or beach. In the afternoon you will  discover the historical heart of Ragusa one of the island's UNESCO World Heritage sites, celebrated for its remarkable Baroque architecture. Your visit will be to Ragusa Ibla (Lower Ragusa), the ancient city center, known for its narrow, winding streets and Baroque buildings.

In the evening you will have a wonderful experience at an herb farm, Gli Aromi, for an insightful course in herb farming and an amazing farm-to-table dinner with an unforgettable view and music.

Day 4: Wednesday, June 4th - Visit Siracusa

Enjoy your morning breakfast at hotel then depart to discover Siracusa, a gem of Sicily.  Your visit will focus on Ortigia, a small island connected to the mainland by bridges, known for its ancient history, Baroque architecture, vibrant street life, and cultural heritage. See the Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral, Tempio di Apollo and Fonte Arethusa.  Enjoy a special visit to the fish market which encapsulates the essence of Sicilian culture, blending ancient history with a thriving, modern food scene. Located near the Temple of Apollo, the Ortigia Fish Market is one of the liveliest and most colorful places in the area.  Around the market area, you can sample Sicilian street food, such as pane con la milza (spleen sandwich), arancini (fried rice balls), and cannoli amidst this bustling, energetic scene.

After lunch on your own, you will have more time to enjoy the town or take an optional tour of the Neapolis Archaeological Park with its amazing Greek Theater dating back to the 5th Century B.C. In the late afternoon, you will return to Marina di Ragusa for an evening at your liesure.

Day 5: Thursday, June 5th - Visit Noto and Marzameni

Enjoy breakfast and a relaxing morning at the beach or pool. In the afternoon you will ride through the countryside to the fascinating town of Noto. You’ll see the breathtaking Piazza del Municipio, where the Cathedral of Noto stands as a centerpiece. This magnificent structure, rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, showcases intricate details and a striking façade adorned with impressive sculptures, and also visit the nearby Church of Santa Chiara, known for its stunning domes and serene interior. Wandering through the narrow streets of Noto, you'll discover an array of beautifully preserved buildings, each telling a story of its own. You will have time on your own to enjoy lunch at the wonderful local eateries which offer traditional Sicilian dishes and the famous Noto almond pastries.

Later, proceed to Marzameni, a picturesque fishing village located on the southeastern coast. Stroll around the beautiful seaside town, known for its vibrant fishing culture and charming atmosphere. The heart of the village is the main square surrounded by charming stone buildings, quaint restaurants, and cafes where there will be a group dinner and music.

Day 6: Friday, June 6th - Visit Catania

After breakfast at the hotel, bid farewell to Marina di Ragusa and head toward Giardini Naxos in the Taormina area for the second half of the trip. You will visit Catania along the way. 

Catania is a city rich in history and culture, offering visitors a blend of stunning architecture, vibrant markets, and natural beauty. Located on the eastern coast of the island, the city sits at the foot of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano which provides a dramatic backdrop to the city. Highlights include Piazza del Duomo with the stunning Catania Cathedral, the Roman Theatre from the 2nd Century, and the bustling fish market La Pescheria filled with fresh catches and lively vendors, creating an authentic Sicilian experience

After a group lunch in Catania, you will proceed to Giardini Naxos, your home for the rest of the trip. You will check in to the beautiful Delta Hotel Giardini Naxos, a fabulous setting with its pool overlooking the private beach, and enjoy a relaxing evening and music.

The town of Giardini Naxos offers a lively restaurant and nightlife scene along it’s lovely coastline.

Day 7: Saturday, June 7th - Visit Taormina

After breakfast at the hotel, you will enjoy a full day in Taormina, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Sicily. With its enchanting scenery and rich heritage, Taormina is a captivating locale that offers a blend of relaxation, exploration, and cultural experience.

One of the main attractions you will visit is the ancient Greek Theatre dating back to the 3rd century BC. You can then wander the charming streets of town and find a mix of medieval and modern architecture. The Corso Umberto is the main thoroughfare, lined with boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants. Enjoy the entire day in this delightful jewel of Italy,  and return to the hotel in the evening.  Taormina is just 15 minutes from Giardini Naxos and can be easily visited again on your own anytime throughout your stay.

Day 8: Sunday, June 8th - Giardini Naxos and Winery

After breakfast, enjoy day of leisure in Giardini Naxos or at the hotel pool and beach.  As the first Greek colony in Sicily, established in the 8th century BC, it showcases remnants of ancient civilization alongside stunning coastal views.

The town boasts a charming atmosphere, with a promenade that stretches along the beachfront, lined with restaurants and cafes. Dining options range from traditional Sicilian cuisine to international fare, ensuring a variety of culinary experiences.

In the late afternoon you will head to a nearby winery on the slopes of Mt. Etna, where the fertile volcanic soil produces excellent wines. Enjoy a wine tasting of the famous Mt. Etna vintages and a delicious dinner made of local specialties and music.

Day 9: Monday, June 9th - Savoca and “The Godfather” Settings

Today after breakfast you will visit Savoca, known for its charming medieval architecture and picturesque landscape. The village is situated on a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea, providing stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. Savoca gained international fame as one of the filming locations for "The Godfather." Key scenes were shot in its historic streets, including the famous Bar Vitelli, where Michael Corleone proposes to Apollonia. The village retains a traditional Sicilian feel, with narrow streets, stone buildings, and ancient churches.

You will return to the hotel for some leisure time before gathering for a farewell dinner and music at a local restaurant.

Day 10: Tuesaday, June 10th - Departure to USA

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer to the Catania Airport for your flight back home.
