Day 1: Sunday, June 9th - Departure from the USA 

Direct overnight flight to Rome Fiumicino Airport, Italy


Day 2: Monday, June 10th - Arrival in Pescara

Upon arrival at the Rome Airport, you will be greeted by your Jet Vacations tour escort Oliviero Olivieri (who is leading the City Rhythm group for the 13th consecutive year!).  Enjoy a private coach transfer into the region of Abruzzo, arriving in the charming town of Pescara by the Adriatic coast. After check-in and some relaxation time, embark on a guided tour of both the historic and modern facets of Pescara, including its scenic beachfront. Savor a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, accompanied by a performance by the City Rhythm Orchestra.

Day 3: Tuesday, June 11th - Visit Scanno and Sulmona

Start the day with a delightful breakfast at your hotel, then explore the stunning Lake Scanno, with its dramatic Sagittarius Gorges, a regional nature reserve. Stroll through the picturesque village of Scanno, known for its historic center, churches, and scenic landscapes within the National Park of Abruzzo. Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, journey to the medieval town of Sulmona, the birthplace of the Roman poet Ovid. Discover its rich history, visit a “confetti” candy factory for tastings, and explore the art of making these sugared-coated almonds.

Day 4: Wednesday, June 12th - Visit L’Aquila and Loreto Aprutino

Begin the day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Embark on a morning tour of L’Aquila, the capital city of Abruzzo. You will witness the resilience of this ancient town following the devastating earthquake of 2009. Explore its medieval, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture, including the Romanesque Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio and the baroque Basilica di San Bernardino. After some free time for personal exploration and lunch on your own, head to Loreto Aprutino, a medieval village renowned for its exquisite extra virgin olive oil and fine wines. Visit a local winery for wine tasting paired with local specialties. Enjoy evening entertainment by the City Rhythm Orchestra in Pescara.

Day 5: Thursday, June 13th - Visit Santo Stefano di Sessanio & Campo Imperatore

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Journey to Santo Stefano di Sessanio, a medieval gem nestled in the Gran Sasso Mountains, showcasing beautifully preserved architecture. Tour the historical center, passing through the Porta Medicea, and explore the charming alleys, stone houses, and craft shops. Continue to the alpine meadow of Campo Imperatore, known as “Italy’s Little Tibet,” where you’ll relish an alfresco lunch featuring Abruzzo’s famous Arrosticini (meat skewers). Learn about cheese production from a local producer and enjoy a cheese tasting experience. Evening entertainment by the City Rhythm Orchestra in Campo Imperatore.

Day 6: Friday, June 14th - Visit Ortona and Trabocchi Coast

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and transfer to Castello di Septe, your home for the next three nights. En route, explore the picturesque seaside town of Ortona and its unique Trabocchi Coast, known for traditional fishing houses suspended over the water.  A trabucco is built on a wood of a platform anchored to the rock and jutting out into the sea. Enjoy a memorable seafood feast and unique experience at a Trabocco restaurant overlooking the Adriatic. Later, check in at your hotel and relax in the evening.

Day 7: Saturday, June 15th - Enjoy Hotel Castello di Septe and Visit Lanciano

Hotel Castello di Septe is a unique experience in itself. Take a leisurely morning to savor a relaxing breakfast enjoy the amenities of your hotel and pool. It is one of the most beautiful Castles in central Italy, Septe overlooks the Sangro Valley.  After a long restoration the Castle is now a hotel and has been declared a National Monument by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage with its well-finished garden, inner antique rooms and pool with a stunning viewpoint.   Later, depart for Lanciano, a historic town in the Sangro Valley with ancient origins and remarkable archaeological finds. Explore the town and learn about the first Eucharistic Miracle recognized by the Church, which occurred in the Seventh century. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and be entertained by the City Rhythm Orchestra.

Day 8: Sunday, June 16th - Visit Punta Aderci, Vasto and Beach

Start the day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel, then embark on a gentle walk to explore the Natural Reserve Punta Aderci, a stunning coastal area with crystal-clear waters. You then continue to Vasto, a charming seaside town of Roman origins. Explore Loggia Amblingh, a spectacular path of columns and arches along the edge of Vasto’s old town. You will then have the day at your leisure for lunch on your own, exploration of the town or beach time on the Adriatic where there are many full service areas with cabanas, chairs and services.  Return to our hotel Castello di Septe for dinner and entertainment.

Day 9: Monday, June 17th - Tivoli and Rome

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel and check out. Depart for Rome with a stop in Tivoli to visit Villa d’Este, renowned for its beautiful gardens and fountains. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then proceed to Rome for check-in at Hotel Ponte Sisto, located in the heart of the city with a fabulous rooftop terrace.  Spend “An Evening in Roma” at your leisure enjoying the nearby squares of Campo de’ Fiore and Piazza Navona, or take a short stroll over the bridge to the exciting neighborhood of Trastevere.

Day 10: Tuesday, June 18th - Leisure Day in Rome

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a day at leisure in Rome. Explore the Roman Forum, wander the historic center’s narrow streets, visit the Vatican Museums, or discover the Borghese Gallery or many other museums. These and other optional tours and excursions can also be arranged in advance through Jet Vacations. In the evening, bid farewell with a delightful dinner at a local restaurant, accompanied by a final performance by the City Rhythm Orchestra.

Day 11: Wednesday, June 19th - Rome to USA

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer to Rome airport for your flight back home
